Remineralize teeth? Super antioxidant?
Native to Indonesia and Madagascar, clove is the
unopened pink flower bud of a tropical evergreen tree. Picked by hand, the buds are dried until they
turn brown. The buds are then left
whole, ground into spice or are steam distilled to create clove oil. Clove oil is incredibly good for you AND is
VERY inexpensive – every household should have a bottle of clove oil in
it. The main chemical component is
eugenol, which gives clove its strong fragrance. Other bioactive compounds include thymol, (see
my article:http://www.eileenironic.com/2019/08/oregano-oil-is-made-from-plant-origanum.html
) Carvacrol, and cinnamaldehyde.
Your
organ of regeneration, the liver, benefits greatly from a low dose of clove
oil. According to the Journal of
Immunotoxicology, eugenol reverses inflammation and cellular oxidation (which
speeds up the aging process). (1)
Eugenol is a powerful antioxidant, it ranks very high on the ORAC scale
(Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) with a value of 290, 283 units as compared
to blueberries whose value is 9,621. (2) Huge difference! Just as a side note, this second reference
shows that Astaxanthin supplements come in at 2,822,200 on the ORAC scale. See my article: http://www.eileenironic.com/2019/04/another-powerhouse-supplement.html
.
According
to Peixoto-Neves, et al., “Eugenol may be therapeutically useful as a
hypertensive agent.” Clove is soothing for the cardiovascular system. They also found that eugenol prevents blood
platelets from sticking together, thereby preventing strokes. Clove is such a powerful blood thinner it is
NOT RECOMMENDED to take with any other blood thinning medication. (3)
Due
to clove’s potent antibacterial and antiviral action, clove not only kills the
bad bugs that would make us sick, it is a powerful immune system booster. Back in the days of the bubonic plague,
thieves used a blend of spices, which included clove, to steal from the bodies
of victims without contracting the disease themselves. To this day there are oil blends called “Thieves
Blend” - remember that during the next cold
and flu season!
You can even use clove
to wipe down surfaces to disinfect them, BUT DO NOT USE ON PLASTIC. I have seen clove damage and warp plastic
items - the same goes for oregano, as well.
Clove’s powerful antibacterial properties have shown to inhibit
gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as yeast. This is critical as gram-negative bacteria are
resistant to antibiotics, an ever-growing problem according to the New York
Times. (4)
Candida is a yeast
infection that is so common, it’s epidemic, clove is very effective at killing
candida. It is actually as potent as
nystatin, the drug prescribed for candida, but with no side effects. (5)
One of my biggest recommendations
for acne care is to spot treat with clove oil.
Be careful, clove oil is spicy, use it sparingly or mix a few drops with
coconut oil until you learn how to play with it. It is also a fever blister killer, the minute
you feel like you are getting a cold sore, spot treat with clove oil, and it
will go away.
Lastly, I think we all
know that cloves are great for a toothache, but new research has shown that
clove oil can actually REMINERALIZE TEETH. (6)
And I quote, “We believe that the clove
essential oil and its two lead molecules inhibit the decalcification and/or may
promote the remineralization caused by the apple acidic beverages.” So, yes, your teeth CAN HEAL!!! (6)

LOVE THIS!!!! Keep writing and inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
ReplyDeletePlastic is oil. Oil dissolves oil, so any essential oil will eat plastic.
ReplyDeleteDon't believe me? Make a cup of tea in a styrofoam cup, add one drop of your favorite essential oil (labelled for ingestion) and see what happens. You don't want to be holding the cup.
So even if you don't see holes in your plastic water bottle, you know the oil you added to your water is eating away at that plastic, and you're drinking plastic. Ugh. So always use glass or stainless steel with essential oils.
You're welcome :)
