The Best Remedy for your Skin!!!

Revisiting Aloe

Aloe, also known as the “Immortality Plant” has been known for its medicinal qualities for over 6,000 years.  Its origins are believed to be from the Sudan, and it grows well in warm, dry climates, but can easily be grown at home.

Aloe is a succulent with many amazing health benefits, “more than 75 Potentially active components have been identified in the plant, including vitamins, minerals, saccharides, amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, lignin, saponins and salicylic acids. It provides 20 of the 22 human-required amino acids and eight of the eight essential amino acids.” According to Dr. Axe, “Minerals such as calcium, copper, selenium, chromium, manganese, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc are present in aloe vera.” (1) “ One of the most crucial elements found in aloe vera gel is a complex carbohydrate known as acemannan. It allows nutrients to reach the cells, nourish them and at the same time relieve them of toxins.  (Think DETOX)

Ayurveda, Chinese herbal medicine and British herbal medicine have all advocated aloe vera as a healer, when applied or consumed orally.” Aloe vera treats the cells on the epithelial level of the skin which is why it's recommended by dermatologists to remove tan, treat sunburn and stretch marks. (2)  The conditions for which clinical trials of Aloe vera have been conducted include skin conditions, management of burn and wound healing, constipation, Diabetes Mellitus, and gastrointestinal disorders.  The therapeutic claims for Aloe vera cover a broad range of conditions. It is commonly used topically in the treatment of dermatological and wound healing conditions. The oral application of the Aloe vera latex is promoted as a laxative, whereas gel and whole-leaf oral preparations have been variously recommended for use as an adjunct to chemotherapy treatment and to ameliorate diverse disorders such as DM, infectious diseases, metastatic cancer (8), and ulcerative colitis. (7)

4.    In a double-blind, randomized, controlled trial of 28 healthy adults, aloe vera latex was reported to have a laxative effect compared to a placebo that was stronger than the stimulant laxative phenolphthalein — making aloe vera a natural constipation relief remedy. (8)
